Cee U In Tinseltown and Van Ede: solid combination
05/07/2021 – There were a couple of Dutch riders entering the Open NRHA European Derby 2020 scheduled for last week in Wiener Neustadt (AUT) and one of them in particular performed absolutely well: Petra van Ede. Van Ede entered the 7-year-old mare Cee U In Tinseltown [Hollywoodstinseltown] bred and owned by Dutch Gisela Haas. Van Ede has been riding the mare from the very first start since 2017, marking an average score of 72,0. The first big achievement was winning the NRHA European L1 Open Futurity Champion title in 2018, followed by the NRHA Germany Breeders Futurity L1 Open Champion title. At the bigger European events the pair continuously ranked high. In 2020 the mare has, due to COVID 19 restrictions, only be shown once at the NRHA Germany Breeders Derby and again with success the pair claimed the L2 Limited Open Reserve Champion title and placed 3rd in the L3 Intermediate Open division. In Wiener Neustadt the combination came back strong though, advancing to the L4-, L3 and L2 Open finals. With 8 more entries to go, Van Ede lived up to the expectations marking a 217,0 and taking over the lead in both L3 and L2 from young Belgian Nimroid Vannietvelt and the 8-year-old stallion Hey Joe [Smart Spook] owned by Steve Vannietvelt and Gina De Pauw who had marked a 216,0 earlier in the competition. Unfortunately the lead did not last until the end of the competition. It was Italian Sebastiano Valtorta who piloted the 8-year-old gelding Four Season Whiz [Topsail Whiz] owned by Luca Mauri to the title in both divisions marking a 218,5. Reserve honors as well as the 9th place in L4 – were for Van Ede and Cee U In Tinseltown, an achievement to be proud of again.
