Bernard Fonck recordholder NRHA Open World titles

22/01/2023 – We pick up where we left off with the latest news from 2022, starting with the NRHA Top 10 standings worldwide. For years European riders have been dominating the NRHA Open rankings, but in 2022 there was only one European in the Top 10. Bernard Fonck (BEL) piloted the 7-year-old stallion ND Pop Gun Trash [Gunnatrashya] owned by Nathalie Derua (BEL) to the 2022 NRHA Open World Champion title. This is the 8th NRHA Open World Champion title Fonck puts to his name.
In 2018 Fonck claimed the title with Missedouttinseltown [Hollywoods Tinseltown] owned by Golden Paint Ranch (BEL); in 2017, 2016 and 2015 with What A Wave [Tidal Wave Jack] owned by SG Reining Horses (BEL); in 2012 with Sail On Top Whizard [Whizard Jac] owned by Danny Cerato (BEL) and in 2011 and 2010 with Great Sun Burst [Einstein] owned by Manuel Bonzano (ITA).
Fonck is not the only European though putting a 2022 NRHA World title to his name. Stephanie Blessing (SUI) and her 6-year old mare Dance Gotta Gun [Spooks Gotta Gun] claimed the NRHA Non Pro World Champion title. Reserve honors in this category are for Nikolai Stiller (GER) and his 7-year-old mare Hollywood Gunrunner [Gunner].
