NP finalists NRHA-G Breeders Derby determined
14/06/2023 – The Non Pro preliminaries of the NRHA Germany Breeders Derby for horses 5-year-old and older – currently scheduled in the Ostbayernhalle in Rieden-Kreuth (GER) -have been concluded and the field of finalists is set. This year the number of entries was beyond expectations. 121 Entries for the € 1.800 added L1, 156 for the € 3.900 added L2; 113 for the € 7.200 added L3, and 87 for the € 17.100 added L4. The 1st round of the Youth Derby was scheduled concurrent with the Non Pro preliminaries, counting 25 entries in total. Posting a 217,0 Jody Fonck (BEL) and the 7-year-old gelding Smart Spooky Joe [Lil Joe Cash] took de lead in the Youth division. To advance to the L1 finals a 210,0 was required. In this division Stefan Löffner (GER) and the 5-year-old mare Stepup For Lil Gun [Lil Gun] took the lead posting a 217,5. Of the Dutch entries Margot van Doorne and the 9-year-old gelding Dances With Spook [Smart Spook] qualified posting a 211,5. To advance to the L2 finals a 212,0 was required and to advance to both the L3- and L4 finals a 212,5. Posting a 219,0 Michelle Maibaum (GER) and the 11-year-old stallion Star Sailor Whiz [Star Spangled Whiz] took the lead in all 3 divisions. 3 Belgian combinations advance to all 3 finals: Fonck and Smart Spooky Joe; Tanja Faes and the 7-year-old stallion KB Silverlining Whiz [CJ Whiz], score 214,5; and Siebe van Bekhoven and the 8-year-old gelding WS Check My Pedigree [Wimpys Smoking Gun], score 213,0. Apart from Fonck, Faes and Van Bekhoven, Bo Brutsaert qualified with the 7-year-old mare KB CJ Gun [CJ Whiz] and the 10-year-old mare ND Sparkling Electra [Jacs Electric Spark] for both the L3- and L4 finals. With both horses she marked a 217,0.
The Non Pro Derby finals are scheduled for Friday June 16, concurrent with the 2nd round of the Youth Derby.
