NRHA Open World Champions 2024

04/01/2025 – Only 28 years old and leading the NRHA Open World rankings 2024. We are talking about the young Italian rider Nico Sicuro. In 2024 Nico piloted the 9-year-old stallion Colonels Dancing Gun [Gunner x Dance Little Spook] owned by Quarter Dream SRL (ITA) to the NRHA Open World Champion title by adding the amazing amount of $ 67.427,37 to the NRHAlife time earnings of the horse, which now exceed the amount of $ 240.000. Nico himself   the age of 19. Within less than 10 years he increased that amount to nearly $ 662.500.
Colonels Dancing Gun has quite a story himself. Over the years the stallion has been ridden by great riders such as Andrea Fappani, Gennaro Lendi and Markus Gebert, both in Europe and the USA. Since late 2020 the stallion is back on European soil under the care of Nico. One might say it is good care.
Nico is not the only Italian Open rider that got himself a spot in the NRHA Top Ten rankings. 26-Year-old Dino Lulli piloted the 5-year-old stallion King Arthur Sailor [AB Captain Badger x Im A Queen Diamonds] owned by Igor Todini (ITA) to the Intermediate Open World Champion title and of the (little bit) older generation 43-year-old Andrea Napolitano claimed reserve honors in this division with the 14-year-old mare ARC Crystal Frozen [Frozen Sailor x ARC Tassa Wantsawin] owned by Carolina Sestini (ITA).
